Former BSP minister Daddu Prasad’s personal assistant (PA) Angad Singh has reportedly owned up the baby of the woman who had accused him and his boss of sexually exploiting her. The woman, however, dismissed it as an attempt to protect Prasad and said there was no question of a compromise with either.

On Wednesday,Singh reportedly made overtures towards the woman, saying he accepted her as his wife and the child was his. The incident happened before mediapersons in the district court of Chitrakoot.

The woman, who had delivered a baby boy in an Allahabad hospital on July 9,had earlier demanded DNA test of Singh and Prasad, claiming that either of the two could be the child’s father. She had alleged that Singh had taken her to Prasad on the pretext of getting her a better job in 2008,after he had become minister. The two raped her and continued to sexually exploit her.

Talking to The Indian Express over the phone, the woman said: “How can he (Singh) claim to have accepted me as his wife, when we were not married in the first place? He is doing all this to protect Daddu Prasad. I want both of them to appear before the court as accused. They have been trying to persuade me to drop the case, but I won’t as I have already undergone so much humiliation.”

On Wednesday, the woman had gone to the district court located in Karvi to get a certified copy of her statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which was recorded before Chief Judicial Magistrate D P Yadav. Singh had also been brought from Hamirpur jail to be produced before the CJM for the hearing in the case.

Counsel for the woman,Rudra Prakash Singh, said: “Singh gave an application in the court saying he accepted the woman as his wife and the child as his own. But the court did not accept the application, asking him to send it through the jail officials.”
