To probe the involvement of Tariq Qasmi and Khalid Mujahid in the court blast case of Faizabad and Lucknow,Justice R D Nimesh,who is heading an inquiry commission,will be visiting Jaunpur and Azamgarh on July 6 and 7.
Earlier,the state government had issued a notification on March 14,2008, regarding the appointment of the Commission.
The governments move to set up the Commission came after family members of both the accused had blamed the police for falsely implicating them in the case.
Both men are currently lodged in jail.
The serial blasts had ripped through the court complexes in Lucknow,Varanasi and Faizabad on November 23,2007,killing at least 14 people and injuring more than 50 others. Nine deaths were reported in Varanasi and five in Faizabad.
On December 22,2007,the STF claimed to have arrested Qasmi and Mujahid from Barabanki.
Mohammad Shoib,the counsel of the accused said: This inquiry commission was set up after mounting public pressure.
According to Shoib,Justice Nimesh will be visiting Mariyahun in Jaunpur and Rani Ki Sarai in Azamgarh the respective residences of Mujahid and Qasmi.
According to the police,Qasmi and Mujahid were picked up from Barabanki on December 22,2007. In reality,both were detained by the STF on December 12 and 16,2007,from Rani Ki Sarai in Azamgarh and Mariyahun in Jaunpur respectively, said Jamal Ahmad,counsel of the accused.
Their family members then lodged missing reports with the police. They have also registered their complaints with the Human Rights Commission,the Chief Minister,the Governor and the PMO, added Ahmad.
