Missing for three days, a 14-year-old daughter of a UP Police constable was found dead by a nullah near Police Lines in Shahjahanpur district, police said Wednesday. While the girl went missing on September 7, her body was recovered on Sunday.
The autopsy report stated that the girl was three months pregnant. It, however, did not confirm the cause of death, they said.
The victim’s family, meanwhile, has alleged that the son of another constable had an affair with the girl and he killed her after coming to know about the pregnancy. Earlier, a day after she went missing, her family had lodged a complaint alleging that she has been abducted by an unidentified person.
Her body was found by a nullah near the Police Lines Tuesday. The family blocked Shahjahanpur-Delhi Highway on Tuesday after placing her body on the road, demanding arrest of the alleged killer.
“The postmortem report did not mention rape and also did not state reason of death. There were no injury marks on her body, hence we are not ignoring the suicide angle, even though the victim’s kin have alleged that she was in love with a youth who is the son of a police constable,” said SP Shahjahanpur, Manoj Kumar.
“The youth, who is around 22-years-old, had made 66 calls to the girl on her mobilephone in last few days. The girl was three months pregnant and the family was aware of the same as well,” said SHO, Sadar Bazar, Arun Kumar Singh.
