To show its aggressive face against the Samajwadi Party (SP) government in the state,Congress Friday decided to widen the scope of its Varanasi protest and target government for poor governance and law and order.
The decision comes on the same day when nine-time Congress MLA Pramod Tiwari was elected to Rajya Sabha with SP support. A meeting in this regard was called by AICC General Secretary,Madhusudan Mistry in Varanasi Friday.
We have decided to widen the scope of our protest and target the government on misgoverance and poor law and order situation, said Congress state president Nirmal Khatri, who was also part of the meeting.
He further said,All our senior leaders have decided to sit on dharna overnight before collectorate and lock offices of the district administration and Commissioner on the second day of protest highlighting misgovernance.
All Union Ministers,Members of Parliament and MLAs from adjoining districts apart from senior UPCC and AICC leaders have been asked to ensure their presence in the two-day protest.
The party had earlier decided to protest against the lack of proper implementation of food security scheme in the state, and make a night stay in the district.
However, after reports of alleged understanding between the two parties for sending Tiwari to Rajya Sabha,it was discussed that there was a need to showcase that Congress would target SP during the Lok Sabha polls and there is no understanding between the two.
