With the juvenile justice board declaring him a major, the CBI is set to move an application before court seeking police remand of Yogendra Yadav alias Babloo to question him in the case of murder of Kunda DSP Ziaul Haque.

Babloo is son of Balipur pradhan Nanhey Yadav, who was shot dead on March 2,leading to a chain of events which resulted in the deaths of pradhan’s brother Suresh and the DSP.

The agency had arrested Babloo, along with his uncles Phoolchand and Pawan, and another accused Manjit in the case of the DSP’s murder on April 13. Phoolchand,Pawan and Manjit were taken in police remand and interrogated.

However,Babloo could not be questioned as his advocate moved an application claiming that he was a minor at the time of crime.

Sources said the CBI wanted to interrogate Babloo about the alleged role of his two friends who accompanied him when Haque was attacked. The agency had come to know about presence of Babloo’s friends at the spot during questioning of some villagers who were witness to the DSP’s murder.

The CBI had inquired from Phoolchand,Pawan and Manjit about the identity of these two youths, but they feigned ignorance, sources said.

During investigation, the agency came to know that Babloo, along with his father Nanhey Yadav, had gone to his maternal uncle’s house at Setpur village, which is about 8 km from Balipur,in the morning on March 2.

Nanhey Yadav was shot dead the same evening at Balipur crossing soon after he had returned from Setpur. Babloo rushed to his home after getting information about his father’s murder.

The witnesses had reportedly told the agency that Babloo was accompanied by two unidentified youths who did not belong to Balipur. A huge gathering of pradhan’s aides and locals was present outside his house when they arrived.

The witnesses also said DSP Haque, who arrived along with other policemen, had a brief discussion with Suresh and soon Suresh turned violent. The DSP was chased and allegedly beaten up by Suresh,Phoolchand and Pawan besides others. Babloo too was seen hitting Haque with a rifle’s butt.

Babloo escaped from the spot on a motorcycle along with his friends after the DSP was shot dead, the witnesses told CBI.

Meanwhile, the CBI has prepared the chargesheet in Nanhey Yadav’s murder case against two of the accused, namely Guddu Singh and his brother Rajeev Singh, and it is likely to file it in court by June 3.
