Businessman body found on railway tracks
LUCKNOW: The badly-decomposed body of a 45-year-old businessman was found on the railway tracks in Gomti Nagar Tuesday. An official of Badshahpur railway station found the dismembered body of Sudama Chauhan,a resident of Chinhat area,on the tracks near the Vivek Khand locality,Sub-Inspector Arvind Kumar Pandey said,adding Chauhan owned a motor garage in Chinhat and his visit to Gomti Nagar remains unclear. Pandey also said his family members could not give any reason that could indicate Chauhan committed suicide,nor could they name any suspects to consider it a case of murder.
Shivpal assures LU of Rs 23 crore aid
LUCKNOW: PWD minister Shivpal Yadav Tuesday assured Lucknow University of financial aid of about Rs 23 crore for the various infrastructure-related works for its new campus,LU officials said,adding that the minister has assured assistance for a state-of-the-art auditorium with an estimated cost of Rs 14 crore,while also agreeing to extend support for the sewer system and for the construction of staff quarters, LU spokesperson Prof N K Pandey said.
VidyaGyan to sign MoU with state govt
lucknow: VidyaGyan Leadership Academy,which runs two residential schools for the underprivileged in Uttar Pradesh,will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government on Wednesday,an official said. VidyaGyan Management Board chairman and former cabinet secretary,government of India,TSR Subramanian said the MoU,to be signed with chief secretary Jawed Usmani,will renew the agreement for the schools,which impart free education to poor students in classes 6 to 12.
JP leaders become formal BJP members
lucknow: Two days after the Janata Party’s merger with the BJP in Delhi,its UP members formally took BJP membership in Lucknow today. Janata Party national general secretary Vanmali Kaushik,state president Ram Avatar Sankhyadhar and others were welcomed by BJP state president Laxmikant Bajpai in the party.
