BSP MLAs associate,gunner booked for assaulting doctor

A Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLAs representative and his police gunner have been booked after they allegedly assaulted a doctor and created ruckus at the Pratapgarh district hospital on Thursday.

The accused are Yogesh Mishra alias Yogi,representative of Beerapur MLA Ram Shiromani Shukla,and Pradeep Pandey,the MLAs gunner. Pratapgarh Additional SP Satya Bhushan Pathak said that Mishra approached Dr Suresh Kumar Maurya to issue handicap certificates to a few of the locals. As the doctor was busy conducting medical examination of candidates for the ongoing police recruitment,he requested Mishra to wait till the medical examination was complete.

Mishra and his police gunner allegedly started hurling expletives at the doctor and began damaging the furniture. They also assaulted Maurya when he tried to object,the ASP said.

Pratapgarh SP Mohit Agarwal said: The MLAs gunner has been suspended and the procedure for his dismissal from police has also started. The gunner and the MLAs representative are absconding,but police teams are conducting raids at possible hideouts to arrest them, the SP added.

Denying the involvement of his gunner and his representative,Shukla said: My representative is staying with me here at Lucknow while my gunner had accompanied my son to Faizabad yesterday,as he had to appear for an exam.

Meanwhile,the district hospital staff stopped work and demanded action against the accused. The agitation ended only after a case was registered against Mishra,the gunner and others under various sections of the IPC and 7 Criminal Amendment Law Act.
