The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) stalled the proceedings in the Vidhan Parishad today, protesting against the use of unparliamentary language by Leader of the House Ahmed Hasan. With the BSP members demanding an apology and Hasan refusing to yield,Chairman Ganesh Pandey adjourned the House for the day.
Hasan allegedly made certain remarks against the BSP during Zero Hour while replying to a notice from BJPs Dr Yagya Dutt Sharma,Dr Nepal Singh,Hridaynarain Dixit,Vinod Pandey,Kedar Nath Singh and Dr Mahendra Singh regarding reimbursement of backward students fees in professional colleges.
None of the BSP members protested. But soon,Leader of Opposition Naseemuddin Siddiqui, who was not in the House at that time, arrived and demanded an apology. Not getting a satisfactory response from Hasan,BSP members trooped into the Well of the House, raising slogans against the government.
With the deadlock persisting and BSP members continuing their protest, the Chairman adjourned the House for 10 minutes and invited Hasan and Siddiqui to his chamber. Intitally,Siddiqui refused to go,but relented after Naseeb Pathan of Congress persuaded him. Party colleagues Gopal Narain Mishra and Sunil Kumar Chittaur accompanied him.
When the House reassembled, the BSP members were again on their feet, raising slogans and demanding an apology from Hasan. As his appeals for order went unheeded and the pandemonium continued, the Chairman adjourned the House for the day. In the process, the discussion on the budget could not take take place.
Incidentally,Siddiqui has good relations with Hasan and,in the past, often addressed him as uncle in his House.
