Uttar Pradesh Medical Council has suspended Dr O P Tiwari’s medical registration after it was found that he had “submitted a fake degree for his job at a private medical college after retiring from government services”. Dr Tiwari (63),sitting president of Indian Medical Association,UP,“was suspended by the council’s governing body for seven years or until his attainment of age 70,whichever comes later,” Registrar,State Medical Council,Rajesh Jain said. Besides him,medical registration of Dr A K Singh (Kanpur) and Dr Vineet Garg (Moradabad) were suspended for one year each,while that of Dr Nilesh Srivastava (Jaunpur) for three months. Dr Pankhudi Srivastava was issued a warning for negligence in duty.

Peace Party MLAs replace top leader

Lucknow: The national president of Peace Party,Dr Ayub was Wednesday removed from the post of leader of its legislature group by party MLAs,who appointed Akhilesh Kumar Singh in his place. Anisur Rehman was named as the deputy leader and Kamal Yusuf as the chief whip,the party MLAs said in a letter to UP Assembly speaker Mata Prasad Pandey in this regard.

Three out of four MLAs of Peace Party held a meeting in which they decided to remove Ayub and appoint Akhilesh,a legislator from Rae Bareli. However,Ayub downplayed the development,saying it would not have any bearing on the party.

He said he had raised his voice against communalism and alleged that the Samajwadi Party was trying to split the party MLAs.

LU extends PhD registration date

LUCKNOW: Owing to demands by some candidates,Lucknow University on Wednesday extended the last date of PhD registration from September 19 to September 23. Accordingly,the last date for the submission of application fee has been extended from September 20 to September 24 and that of application form from September 21 to September 25.

CM changes minister’s portfolio

LUCKNOW: Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday changed the portfolio of Minister of State for Programme Implementation Ram Sakal Gurjar. The minister will now hold the portfolio of technical education.
