Continuing his tirade against the SP,union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma alleged on Saturday that SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav had “cheated minorities” and had a tacit understanding with the BJP.

Verma also predicted a “funeral” for the SP after 2014,claiming that the party would win just four seats.

“In 1998,when Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government fell by one vote,he (Mulayam) had promised to support Sonia Gandhi. Later in the night,he (Mulayam) had a talk with (L K) Advani at Jaya Jaitly’s residence… Advani told him not to support Sonia,” claimed Verma.

He said the BJP,in return, helped Mulayam form the government in Uttar Pradesh in 2003. “He (Mulayam) had only 135 MLAs. Vajpayee was the PM and Vishnu Kant Shastri was the governor. Can someone with 135 MLAs become the CM (of UP)… without (the support of) the ruling party (at the Centre),” he said.

Raising the Babri Masjid issue,Verma accused Mulayam of “cheating” the minority community by not doing enough to prevent its demolition. Verma also accused Mulayam of “having a relationship with BJP at that time also”.
