Bareilly: Woman gangraped by 4 villagers

Police lodged an FIR against the four named accused on Thursday and launched a manhunt to nab them. “We have taken one of the four accused into custody."

A woman, reportedly in her 40s, was alleged gangraped by four persons at Niyamatpur village in Cantonment police station area of Bareilly district Wednesday.

Police lodged an FIR against the four named accused on Thursday and launched a manhunt to nab them. “We have taken one of the four accused into custody. He is being questioned. The woman’s medical examination has been done. The reports are awaited,” said Circle Officer Ramanpal Singh.

The woman, a mother of eight, was at her hut with her husband on Wednesday night when four persons from the village came there and gangraped her, according to police complaint lodged by her. “Her husband was sent away from the hut by the accused persons when they raped her. The husband knows all the accused persons who belong to the same village and community,” added Singh.
