Uttar Pradesh government is contemplating recommending a CBI probe into the death of Sara Singh, daughter-in-law of jailed former state minister Amarmani Tripathi, in a car accident in Firozabad earlier this month.
“The government has sought all documents related to Sara Singh case to recommend a CBI probe,” Principal Secretary (Home), Devashish Panda, said, hours after the 27-year-old law graduate’s mother, Seema Singh, met Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav at his office and demanded a CBI inquiry, alleging that her daughter was murdered.
Replying to queries on the issue, the Chief Minister said that the government will do everything to satisfy the family. “We will get the case probed thoroughly and impartially to the satisfaction of the family,” Akhilesh told reporters after a Cabinet meeting here.

To specific question on demand for CBI inquiry, he said, “We will see…if required, it will also be done”.
He said security will be provided to the family as demanded by them from today itself.
Sara had died on July 9 when the car in which she was travelling overturned near Sirsaganj in Firozabad district. Her husband Amanmani, who was driving the car, escaped unhurt. Seema Singh had alleged that Sara was murdered and her death was made to look like an accident.
Initially, police registered the death as an accident but an FIR for murder and conspiracy was lodged against Amanmani and “his family members” on Saturday on the basis of a complaint by Seema Singh, who has said that Amarmani was against Sara’s marriage with his son. The duo had got married at a Arya Samaj temple two years ago.
After meeting Akhilesh, Seema Singh said, “I told him everything and showed the photographs showing a mark of tightening (strangulation) on Sara’s neck. I also requested him for providing security to my family. I am satisfied with my meeting with him. He assured me of action,” she said.
Earlier, Governor Ram Naik had written to CM to take action on Seema Singh’s demand of a CBI probe into Sara’s death.
Amanmani who was arrested after the accident in connection with a case of kidnapping lodged against him at Lucknow last year, has been lodged in Lucknow jail since July 10. His parents, serving life terms for the murder of Madhumita Shukla, are admitted at Gorakhpur medical college under judicial custody.
