Three cops,including SO,suspended for beating women,kids.
The post-mortem report has shown that the six-year-old girl,whose death led to protests in Aligarh on Thursday,was strangled to death after sexual assualt.
The investigation of the case has been transferred to crime branch of the Aligarh police and a reward of Rs 25,000 announced for information about the perpetrator of the crime.
The district administration provided ex-gratia of Rs 20,000 to the family of the girl who announced to stage a protest if the accused was not arrested within 24 hours.
The girl had gone missing from her house on Wednesday evening in Banna Devi area. The girls family searched for her and found the body lying about 200 metres from their house on Thursday morning.
Residents of the area gathered at Nagla Kala area and blocked the road by placing the girls body there.
They alleged that the police were informed early in the morning about the girls disappearance but they did not act on the complaint.
Hearing about the blockade,the police rushed to the site of agitation and tried to pacify the mob,which started pelting stones on the forces.
Circle Officer A K Singh also reached the spot and applied force to disperse the crowd. The video footage showed the CO knocking down a woman while two constables,including one from PAC,were seen beating up women and children.
Following directives from the DGP,the DIG conducted an inquiry and sent a report to the headquarters. Later,Circle Officer A K Singh and two police constables were put under suspension.
SSPs rape remarks to be probed
DIG Prakash D on Friday said the insensitive remarks made SSP Aligarh,Amit Pathak,will also be probed. Pathak had yesterday triggered a controversy by saying How can you or we decide this (if the girl was raped)?.. Did her relatives see her being raped? What I mean to say is we will come to know everything on the basis of a medical report.
