Akhilesh’s Rs 7,112-cr supplementary budget caters to family members’ seats

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Wednesday presented a Rs 7,112.39 crore supplementary budget with maximum provisions for doling out sops promised by the Samajwadi Party in its election manifesto.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Wednesday presented a Rs 7,112.39 crore supplementary budget with maximum provisions for doling out sops promised by the Samajwadi Party in its election manifesto. The budgetary allocations also have taken special care of the ruling Yadav family members’ Assembly and parliamentary constituencies.

The budget provides Rs 100 crore for Lohia housing scheme in rural areas,a similar amount for connecting roads in Lohia villages and Rs 400 crore towards unemployment allowance. It also has provision for Rs 1.18 crore for health insurance scheme for handloom weavers and Rs 50 lakh for powerloom weavers,Rs 75 crore for payment of cane dues of co-operative sugar mills and Rs 22.87 crore towards payment of electricity bills of powerloom weavers.

Earlier,Akhilesh had presented a budget of Rs 2.21 lakh crore on February 19 during the budget session. This supplementary budget —- the first for the fiscal 2013-14 —- also has a provision of Rs 5 crore for a sports college at Saifai in Etawah,the native place of SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Other allocations for Etawah include Rs 1 crore for the agriculture college,Rs 50 lakh for fisheries colleges,Rs 4.25 crore for astroturf hockey ground and gymnasium,a token amount of Rs 1,000 for electric substation at sports centre and Rs 15 crore for a building at Rural Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS),Saifai.

Kannauj the parliamentary constituency of Dimple Yadav,wife of Akhilesh Yadav also has got Rs 5 crore for a cricket stadium, Rs 10 crore for para-medical institute,Rs 5 crore each for a heart centre and a cancer hospital,Rs 50 lakh for laboratory in Sunder Lal Degree College,Kannauj.

Mulayam’s parliamentary constituency Mainpuri has been allocated Rs 50 lakh for milk cooling plant and another Rs 50 lakh for a sales tax office.

Badaun,which is the parliamentary constituency of Dharmendra Yadav,the cousin of Akhilesh,too has been given Rs 5 crore for for a medical college.

Akhilesh Yadav,who also holds the finance portfolio has allocated Rs 170 crore for land compensation for extension of air strips and Rs 40 crore for purchase of an aircraft for state government.

A provision has also been made for Rs 8.55 crore as compensation for land acquired for AIIMS at Rae Bareli,the parliamentary constituency of Sonia Gandhi. Rs 1.35 crore has been allocated for land for Institute of Hotel Management at Jagdishpur,Amethi,the parlimentary constituency of Rahul Gandhi. Rs 12.50 crore has been allocated as initial corpus for National Capital Region Transport Corporation while Rs 50 crore has been allocated for the Agra-Lucknow expressway.

A provision of Rs 41.73 lakh has been made for computerisation of CM’s office and Rs 20 crore for CM’s discretionary fund.

Akhilesh has also made an allocation of Rs 5 crore for the advisors appointed by him in various departments. Other major allocation include Rs 10 crore for 500 bed children hospital in Gorakhpur,Rs 15 crore for 500 bed hospital in Jhansi and Rs 10 crore for 12 Mahamaya Polytechnics.
