Akhilesh seeks ideas on Facebook

Chief Minister-designate Akhilesh Yadav of Samajwadi Party has initiated a campaign on social networking site — Facebook — for people to put forward one idea which they would implement if they were to become chief minister of the state.

Chief Minister-designate Akhilesh Yadav of Samajwadi Party has initiated a campaign on social networking site — Facebook — for people to put forward one idea which they would implement if they were to become chief minister of the state.

Akhilesh,who is a regular on Facebook,used the social networking site during the election campaign. From posting latest updates,pictures and videos of his election campaigning,he had made the platform interactive. His latest initiative is ‘One Action CM’,where he has asked users to mention one action which they will take as CM for the development of Uttar Pradesh.

The initiative,which was started before the announcement of election results,has received 587 responses and the list is growing. Most of the responses are from his fans and SP supporters who have congratulated him; some had even predicted that Mulayam Singh Yadav will be the next CM.

Many Facebook users have given some serious suggestions on subjects ranging from industrial development,setting up of IT parks,farming,and creating opportunities for the youth. Most of them shared the common suggestions of weeding out corruption,shunning casteism and punishing criminals. Some advocated implementation of certain provision of the Jan Lokpal Bill.

Here is a look at some of the responses: Nitesh Choudhary,CA ,feels that setting up a vigilance cell in the taxation department and auditing accounts of MLA and MPLAD funds. Deepak Chaturvedi of Ghaziabad came up with an interesting idea of initiating a Chief Minister’s helpline,managed by a professional call centre. Arvind Tiwari,who works with SAP Labs India Private Limited,wants IT parks so that people from the state get jobs within the state and do not have to migrate.

Virendra Kumar Bajpai of Central Drug Research Institute suggested a cancer hospital in the state. An advocate,Kamal Kumar,suggested the CM should concentrate on infrastructure development,while another advocate,Alpana Srivastava,wants e-tendering in government departments such as PWD. Senior developer at Nomura Services Kaif Mazhar feels that state should invite MNCs.

Satyanarayana SVN Ventaka feels that moral science should be made a compulsory subject from Class 3 to 10 . Rakesh Sinha of University of Pittsburgh,USA,opines that agriculture should be strengthened by formulating village corporations,using land and labour as sharing-holding. Wanshanbor Nongrum suggests a confidential enquiry committee against the corrupt staff.

Sharuya Pratap Singh Sisodia came up with six ideas,including encouraging horticulture in Bundelkhand,imprisonment of all criminals,building an integrated industrial corridor in western UP,repair of roads,organising fairs for FDI promotion and promoting contract farming. Mahesh Sahu of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre advised the adoption of Nitish Kumar’s model of development.

There are some who have used the platform to voice their criticism of the SP. Sumit Sisodia,an IAS aspirant,says he repents that his family voted for SP which,in its last regime,had reserved all jobs for Yadavs. But he requests Akhilesh not to interfere in the UP Public Service Commission. One Rajesh Yadava who posted several suggestions,and finally termed the initiative as a populist stunt

as Akhilesh did not reply to the suggestions.
