Ahead of local polls,BJP lists priorities

The Bharatiya Janata Party has released a list of priorities in infrastructure development works that will be completed by the local bodies in which the party candidates win as mayor and corporators.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has released a list of priorities in infrastructure development works that will be completed by the local bodies in which the party candidates win as mayor and corporators.

Party state president Laxmikant Bajpai promised low-cost houses to people living in slums and development of multi-purpose community centres in every municipal ward.

The BJP has also promised to open corporation schools on the lines of central schools in every municipal corporation. Hospitals and dispensaries will set up where the poor will get free medical facilities. The party has also promised free ambulance facility in all local bodies.

Development of Press Club buildings in major cities is also in the priority list of the BJP. The party has announced that 60 per cent of house tax recovered from industrial areas would be used for providing basic infrastructure facilities in these areas. Beautification of riverfront and development of parks along river banks is also in the priority list.

BJP spokesperson Haridwar Dubey said,“The BJP will take these tasks on priority in the local bodies where the BJP will win.”

Dubey said this was not a poll manifesto. “Separate election manifestos will be issued by the city units of the party at their own level,” he said.

Independent candidate shot at,critical

Bulandshahr: An independent candidate,in fray for local body polls,was allegedly shot at by unidentified men while he was campaigning in Purana Bazaar area of Bulandshahr on Monday evening. “Babu Qureshi,a candidate in the Nagar Panchayat election,was shot at by some men in car. A bullet hit his abdomen,” said Senior Superintendent of Police P Gulab Singh. He was taken to a government hospital and was later referred to a Noida hospital in critical condition,he said. Protesting against the incident,his supporters blocked the Khurja-Jewar road till late last night,Singh added.
