A total of 22 Innova SUVs — part of the state’s recently-launched emergency response system, UP-100 — will be deployed in Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Kannauj, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Hardoi and Lucknow.
The DGP has directed the SPs to use these vehicles exclusively for patrolling the expressway.
All vehicles will be provided equipment necessary for patrolling and regulation of traffic, including breathalysers and speed radar devices to measure the speed of moving vehicles.
While emergency help will be provided by UP-100 project’s vehicles, legal action will be initiated by the local police
station. Ahmad has also directed the SPs to station an ambulance at every base station for medical emergencies.
