DSP suspended for hitting woman.

A DSP,posted as circle officer in Aligarh district, was suspended on Thursday for hitting a woman who was part of a group protesting alleged police inaction over the suspected rape and murder of a six-year-old girl.

Aligarh Range DIG Prakash D said the girl was probably strangled to death, but they are waiting for the post-mortem report to get an exact finding about the cause of death and also if the girl was raped.

He said that the six-year-old girl went missing since last night. She had been sleeping in the verandah of her house in Banna Devi police station area. The girl’s family searched for her and found the body lying about 200 metres from their house around 7 am,said the DIG.

He said that people from the area gathered in Nagla Kala area and blocked the road by placing the girl’s body there. They alleged that the police were informed early in the morning about the girl’s disappearance, but the cops did not act on the complaint.

Prakash said the police rushed to the site of agitation and tried to pacify the mob,but they started pelting stones on the forces. Circle Officer AK Singh also reached there and applied force to disperse the people.

The video footage showed the CO hitting a woman while two constables, including one from PAC,were seen beating up women and children.

Following directives from the DGP,the DIG conducted an inquiry and sent a report to the headquarters. He was told this evening that the CO has been suspended. He had already ordered suspension of the two guilty constables, said the DIG.
