Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday expressed concern over recent attacks on two college principals by students, saying such incidents are “unwanted” and “administration should look into” such incidents.

Mukherjee, who was at Behrampore on Sunday, said so when asked to comment on recent incidents of attacks on college principals. There may be difference of opinion between students and college authorities on issues related to elections in colleges, but situation should not lead to assault on teachers and law and order problems,he said.

It may be mentioned here that the principal of Raigunj college was assaulted allegedly by some Trinamool Congress Chatra Parishad members and outsiders a few days ago. In a similar incident, the principal of Rampurhat college in Birbhum fell unconscious after being humiliated, allegedly by some Trinamool Congress Chatra Parishad members here too.
