Addressing a rally in Ghola,South 24 Parganas,Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today asked people not to trust either the Trinamool or the Congress as both belonged to the rich and leaders of both the parties were used to give false hopes to voters.
Trinamool has never cared for the poor nor will it do so in future, said Bhattacharjee. He further said only Left Front has worked in the interest of the poor and people should strengthen the government.
Incidentally, the Left Front has suffered heavy erosion in its rank and file but Trinamool which came to power in the zilla parishada here has failed to meet the peoples expectations. The CM was apparently asking people not to make the mistake of voting in fabour of Trinamool again.
Trinamool had swept the panchayat elections in 2008 and won all seats in the Parliament election in 2009 in the district.
The chief minister alleged the performance of panchayats run by Trinamool was worst in the state and urged people to protest against the functioning of the TMC panchayats. Everywhere,TMC-run panchayats have come to a halt. They are involved in large-scale corruption, he said.
Taking a dig at the proposed railway projects,Bhattacharjee said these were false promises. Everyday there are advertisement in the dailies about railway projects. How will the factories come up and where is the money, he asked.
He said it was only because of Trinamool the car factory could not come up at Singur where 4000 to 6000 people would have got work.
The chief minister also tried to woo the huge minority population of the area by reminding them of the government decision to give them 10 per cent reservation in government jobs.
He also criticised the Union government for rise in the prices of the essential commodities.
