Police on Monday arrested a person, reportedly an active Trinamool Congress member, for slapping a doctor at a nursing home.

Asif Khan had brought his ailing 92-year-old father to a nursing home at Beckbagan on Sunday night and demanded that his father be admitted in the ICU. Yusuf had been admitted to the nursing home on June 27 and discharged earlier in the day. When Dilnawaz Ahmed, the doctor who had been attending Yusuf, sought the discharge certificate,Asif allegedly slapped him twice. “He threatened me of knowing top bosses of the ruling party and that I could get into a lot of trouble,” Dr Ahmed said, who later filed a complaint at Beniapukur police station. After going through the CCTV footage of the hospital,Asif was arrested today. He was later granted bail.
