TMC asks its trade unions to unite for panchayat poll

In order to rein in various state government employees’ Union owing allegiance to the Trinamool Congress that have mushroomed after the party came to power,Commerce and Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee on Tuesday exhorted the outfits.

In order to rein in various state government employees’ Union owing allegiance to the Trinamool Congress that have mushroomed after the party came to power,Commerce and Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee on Tuesday exhorted the outfits “to bury the hatchet and work jointly to project the image of the party and help party come out with flying colours in the panchayat elections”.

He said this at a meeting of four Trinamool-backed unions — State Government Employees’ Federation (Unified),State Government Employees Federation,State Government Trinamool Employees Federation and National Federation of State Government Employees — in Kolkata.

In order to effect a merger of the four unions,Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee,who is peeved at the proliferation of Trinamool-backed unions,has called for a convention of the unions on March 9.
