Three persons were arrested on Monday in connection with a robbery incident. According to a complaint filed with the Topsia police station,a 20-year-old girl boarded a shuttle car from the Lord Sinha Road and AJC Bose Road crossing on February 11.

“The girl was doing internship with a CA firm on Lord Sinha Road and boarded the car around 8.30 pm after her work,” said an officer of the detective department. According to the complainant, two persons were seated at the backseat.

When the car approached Topsia after crossing bridge number four on the Park Circus connector, the two persons suddenly took out knives and asked the girl to hand over her belongings. They snatched her mobile phone, gold and silver rings,a metal chain,ATM card and Rs 400. “When the girl tried to resist, she was assaulted and beaten up severely,” said the officer. After this the car turned towards Salt Lake and Rajarhat. The duo threw the girl out of the car at a desolate spot.

“The girl was too traumatised to file a complaint. We finally convinced her to lodge a complaint on February 13,” said the official.

Subsequently, the robbery and dacoity branch of the police raided several places in Maniktala and Bagmari and arrested three persons, the two passengers and the driver.
