Scientist Partho Sarothi Ray will return to the movement against the Nonadanga eviction by this weekend,he said over the phone to The Indian Express today.
After he was released on bail yesterday,Ray went to his office in Kalyani today and tried to clear the backlog that had been created while he was in prison for 10 days.
There is a number of meetings lined up and several other paper works that I need to look into. Once I am done with these,I might return to Nonadanga by the end of this week, he said and added that he was kept away from family and work for a long time and had missed out on a lot of things.
Asked how he was received at his institute,he said everyone, from his family to his friends and colleagues, had been very supportive. They had been beside me and that has been a huge strength and encouragement for me to go ahead in my mission to stand beside the sufferers.
The 36-year-old assistant professor of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) was arrested on April 8 from a peaceful gathering near Ruby Hospital for allegedly being a part of an agitation on April 4. Ray,however, placed material evidence to prove he was in Kalyani, attending an IISER meeting,on the day.
