Plea for CBI probe moved in HC

A plea was moved on Monday seeking the intervention of the Calcutta High Court on the alleged chit fund scam of the Saradha Group.

A plea was moved on Monday seeking the intervention of the Calcutta High Court on the alleged chit fund scam of the Saradha Group. Advocate Subrata Mukhopadhyay moved the plea that the high court should direct the CBI to investigate the alleged scam. A Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Arun Mishra asked Mukhopadhyay to file a petition and the case will be heard as an urgent matter. It is likely to be heard on Tuesday or Wednesday,Mukhopadhyay said.

Mukhopadhyay alleged that some leaders of the ruling party were involved with the company or enjoyed benefits from company and that the government remained silent. In such a situation,independent investigation cannot be possible by the state police or any agency under the state government,he said.
