Maoists blow up CPM leader’s house

The Maoists allegedly raided the house of a CPM leader at Lalgarh and exploded a landmine in his house today.

The Maoists allegedly raided the house of a CPM leader at Lalgarh and exploded a landmine in his house today. The house collapsed under the impact of the blast,said Mirza Khaled,Additional Superintendent of Police,Kharagpur.

Khaled said that around 10-12 armed Maoists raided the house of Manik Murmu at Belbani village last night,but he and his family members were not there. Murmu had taken shelter in Ramgarh after Maoists activities increased in the area.

Today a CPM district committee member in West Midnapore said — on condition of anonymity — that the Maoists and members of the PCAPA had kidnapped seven CPM party members from Gajasimul village at Jhargram. They were taken to Santaldhia village where the Maoists set up an open court,he added. The Maoists warned the abducted persons to leave the party. They were also beaten up before being released.
