The Left Front committee today wrote a letter to Home Secretary Basudeb Banerjee demanding a judicial probe into the “custodial death” of SFI leader Sudipta Gupta.

The Left leaders have also demanded action against Trinamool Congress workers who allegedly torched, looted and set houses of CPM supporters and CPM party offices on fire.

“Arson, loot, ransacking and physical assault of party leaders have been reported from many areas,” the letter said, calling for immediate steps against it by the government.

“The Trinamool Congress did not spare Presidency University, even though the administration remained indifferent to the issue,” the letter said.

The letter mentioned that Left supporters have been left homeless in all districts and violence is unabated in the state, with no arrests and no action on the part of the government.

The letter was signed by leaders of its 10 constituents. The Front warned that it would organise a movement unless its demand for effective steps by the state government was not conceded.
