Left Front Tuesday cleared their stand on the two hung panchayat zilla parishad results.

“We will be in the Opposition at Malda, and will form the board and go for polls in North Dinajpur zilla parishad and at Jalpaiguri, since we have a clear majority,” said Left Front chairman Biman Basu after a meeting at party office.

He said the Left will maintain distance from Congress,TMC and the BJP. “We will not take their support nor will we support them. Neither will we have anything to do with independent parties that have been formed after candidates were not given tickets from other parties. We will be interested in an alliance with only genuine independent parties,” Basu said.

Referring to the passive support to the Congress at Malda,he said,“At Malda,Congress and CPM are tied with 16 seats and TMC has six. Congress will join hands with TMC and their tally will be 22,which is more than ours. At North Dinajpur, the combined strength of Congress and TMC is equal to what we have,so a fight is possible,” he said.
