Kona Expressway accident: 29 injured

Twenty-nine youths were injured when a matador skidded off the road on the Kona Expressway on Sunday morning.

Twenty-nine youths were injured when a matador skidded off the road on the Kona Expressway on Sunday morning.

The youths,residents of Bankra in Howrah and members of a club,were going to attend a football match in Udaynarayanpur. The injured were admitted to the SSKM Hospital. Two of them,Somen Mondol and Novendu Manna,are reported to be critical.

According to police,the matador was travelling from Bankra to Udaynarayanpur. The matador skidded off the expressway as it tried to avoid a motorbike near Garfa bridge. Locals rescued the passengers with the help of police.

In a separate incident on Andul Road near Mourigram in Howrah,five passengers of a private bus sustained injuries. The incident took place in the evening,when the bus lost control and hit a mini bus. The injured pasengers were admitted to a local nursing home.
