Four unidentified armed men allegedly stormed into a building in Chandni Chowk under Bowbazar police station area and looted Rs 80,000, a watch and a silver ring from the home of a trader on the top floor on Friday night.

Ali Mohammed (48) was having dinner at his home when the miscreants allegedly forced themselves into his room. They allegedly tied his hands and legs and ordered the others to keep quiet. According to the police, the victims have revealed that the men communicating with each other in Urdu. After they entered the room, they made a beeline for the almirah where the money was kept, said sources. The building is located in a busy area, with most of its rooms rented by small traders.

“An insider may be involved in passing the information to the dacoits since they came, looted and left within a short span of time,” said police. Investigators are monitoring CCTV footage of the area. The men also escaped with two phones, both of which have been switched off since. “We are trying to trace the tower location,” said a police officer.
