Mamata Banerjee on Thursday hit out at the media saying that a section of journalists has forgotten its principles and was being ruled by corporate houses. “In pursuit of business, they should not allow communal tension, spread rumours or malign someone’s reputation. We used to have an impartial journalism before. Now,a business panel decides what the media should project. Yes,there has been some problem at Kokrajhar. People of Bengal are giving shelter to the homeless. We have not gone into any controversy. Instead, our police force have given them shelter because we feel that it is our social duty,” she said and alleged that some political leaders are trying to spark off a communal riot by making controversial comments on the sensitive situation.
