The mall was vacated on Sunday

For the second day in a row, shopkeepers of a mall in Howrah received text messages on Monday threatening to blow off the mall if they fail to pay Rs 10 lakh.

On Sunday afternoon,an employee of the mall received a text message from an unknown number stating that four bombs were planted in the mall and they would go off if the authorities fail to pay Rs 10 lakh, said police.

The same SMS was sent again after half an hour following which the police were informed. However, after the bomb squads reached the mall and people were moved out,no bomb could be traced. The mall authorities received a similar SMS today which demanded the amount to be delivered in the mall itself.

Ajey Ranade,Commissioner of Police,Howrah, said,“We have started investigating the matter. We are trying to trace the mobile number from which the SMSes were sent. It seems that the SIM cards were procured using fake address and fake names.”

No arrest has been made in this case as of now.
