HC stays notification cancelling pension to assistants of ministers during Left rule

The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday stayed the notification issued on February 22,which cancelled the provision of giving pension to the retired confidential assistants of ministers.

The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday stayed the notification issued on February 22,which cancelled the provision of giving pension to the retired confidential assistants of ministers.

Several retired confidential assistants to ministers filed a writ petition challenging the notification which stopped their pension. The Left Front government introduced a rule in 1996 which had a provision to give pension to confidential assistants of ministers. The pension was fifty per cent of the salaried amount of Rs 3,650 monthly.

The present government abolished the post and introduced new posts of executive assistant and special executive assistant for ministers and fixed a salary of Rs18,000.
