GJM president Bimal Gurung Tuesday reacted sharply to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s speech in Kalimpong wherein she had said that children of the men leading agitation in hills study abroad.

“If she is implying that my children are abroad then she can check with her intelligence sources. My daughter does not have a passport and my son studied in Darjeeling and Bangalore. My daughter was practising law in Calcutta High Court but has now moved to Delhi High Court as she was threatened in Bengal. My son is also trying to make his own career as an actor in a Nepali film,” Gurung said in a post on social networking site Facebook.

He also slammed the function organised by the Lepcha community as a Trinamool Congress show.

“The Kalimpong function was to be organized by the Lepcha community, but,I was sad to observe that the pandals looked more like a Trinamool show with the use of blue and white colours. I have always known that the Lepcha community’s symbolic colour is maroon and not blue. Please,do not change your colours,my dear Lepcha brothers and sisters,” he added in the post.
