Dengue toll reaches 4

With one more death reported on Tuesday,the number of deaths due to dengue in the state has reached four even as the Kolkata Municipal Corporation and state health department continued to suppress the actual number of those affected and deaths due to the disease.

Kolkata:With one more death reported on Tuesday,the number of deaths due to dengue in the state has reached four even as the Kolkata Municipal Corporation and state health department continued to suppress the actual number of those affected and deaths due to the disease. Mary Bonowar,a health worker working at a private hospital in Mukundapur in Eastern bypass died of dengue shock syndrome,said doctors. Both KMC and the health department,however,did not confirm that the death was due to dengue. Earlier,two children,aged 5 and two-and-a-half,died of dengue at Dr B C Roy Hospital. They were admitted on Friday with symptoms of dengue. They died on Saturday.

Three eve-teasers arrested

Kolkata:In two separate incidents of eve-teasing in Behrampore,three persons were arrested on Tuesday. Two persons were arrested after they teased a pregnant woman and beat up her husband for protesting. The woman’s husband has been admitted to a local hospital. The victim has also alleged that the miscreants pushed her and kicked her when she tried to save her husband while they were assaulting him. In the second incident,a pool-car driver was arrested after he allegedly passed lewd comments on a group of school-students.
