An all-party meeting was held at the office of West Bengal’s Chief Electoral Officer on Thursday to discuss the schedule of the special summary revision of electoral roll. Members of major political parties attended the meeting.
Speaking to The Indian Express, senior CPM leader Rabin Deb said, “The Election Commission had extended the date for summary revision of the electoral roll. Today it was decided at the all-party meeting that the date has been extended till November 30. The revision will be conducted between November 15 and 30. Two special dates — November 19 and 26 — have been earmarked. On these two days, booth-level officers and agents will meet for revision of electoral purpose. On other days, district-level officers will visit households to check if any member of a family is left out of the voters’ list.”
The CPM leader said they have urged Election Commission officers to lay stress on the inclusion of names of people such a migrant workers and students studying in other states and countries, in the voters’ list. TMC leader Subrata Bakshi and BJP leader Joy Prakash Majumdar attended the meeting.
