The CPM on Wednesday slammed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for leading a conspiracy to disrupt the panchayat polls in the state. Accusing the Trinamool Congress government of not being serious on holding panchayat election in the state,Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Suryakanta Mishra said: “Some people have been saying that a conspiracy is going on to disrupt the elections, and we agree with them. It is the Trinamool Congress which is hatching the plot and the Chief Minister is presiding over it. We request her to deploy central forces so that she can save her own partymen from the attack of other groups of her party.’’

“Since the wind is now going against the Trinamool,it wants panchayat polls not to be held on time. That is why it wants that there is no adequate security during polling and also is creating the hurdles,” he alleged. Mishra said that the Trinamool Congress has to take the responsibility if panchayat polls are not held on time. He also said a constitutional crisis was going to emerge in the state as the terms of many of the panchayats is coming to an end this month. “Many of the panchayats are going to be defunct at the end of this month. We don’t know what will happen after that,” he added.
