CPM man killed,25 hurt in clash

A CPM worker was killed in a clash with Congress supporters at a village in North Dinajpur district on Tuesday

A CPM worker was killed in a clash with Congress supporters at a village in North Dinajpur district on Tuesday. Mohammad Sultan had received several sharp cut injuries on his head.

Around 25 people,including eight women,were also injured in the clash that took place at Bhairabsthan village in Goalpakhor area of the district.

All the injured are in hospital. According to the police,the villagers used swords and rods in the clash.

Local Congress MLA,Golam Rabbani,however,termed it as a land dispute.

The CPM,meanwhile,expressed apprehension of large-scale violence in the run-up to the elections and demanded that central forces be deployed across the state for protection of voters and candidates.
