Cong leader files plea to cancel Kumar bail

Kumar was arrested on November 30 for his alleged involvement in the scam during his tenure as SJDA CEO.

A Congress leader from Siliguri Friday filed an application in Calcutta High Court seeking cancellation of bail granted to Godala Kiran Kumar,the Malda District Magistrate and former CEO of the Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA).

Sujay Ghatak,Congress councillor of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation,has pleaded in the application that the Kumar’s bail should be cancelled in the interest of the investigation in the financial scam of SJDA. Ghatak also filed a Public Interest Litigation in the Calcutta High Court seeking an order for CBI probe on the scam.

Kumar was arrested on November 30 for his alleged involvement in the scam during his tenure as SJDA CEO. However,the next day a local court granted him bail after the government did not oppose his plea. Following the development,eight other accused were also released on bail.
