Business delegation reaches Writers’ to convince

Mamata on ‘FDI benefits’ A delegation of the industry body,Assocham,led by its secretary general DS Rawat met Chief Secretary Sanjay Mitra and tried to convince him that FDI in retail is good for the revival of the country’s economy. Pushing for the financial reforms launched by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,the delegation also sought an appointment with Chief Minister to try to convince her government to support FDI in multi-brand retail. Mamata had walked out of the UPA government on the very same issue and has been preparing to launch anti-FDI campaigns across the country.

“The FDI in retail and the other financial reforms are good for the economy as it will generate more employment opportunities,” Rawat said. The delegation,at present,touring different states of the country trying to convince various political parties about the necessecity of ontroduction of FDI in retail in the country.
