Man claiming to be Maoist detained near CM’s house

Kolkata:A mentally challenged youth,who claimed to be a Maoist,was detained near Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s house,the police said.

Achintya Kuiti,a resident of Chandrakona area in West Midnapore district,arrived in front of Banerjee’s house this morning and claimed that he was a Maoist and wanted to surrender. The security officials who were at chief minister’s house detained and handed him over to Kalighat police station.

Eight injured in TMC-Left clash

Barasat:Eight people were injured,one seriously,in a clash between supporters of ruling Trinamool Congress and opposition Left Front at Haroa in North 24 Parganas district today. Police said the clash took place over the election to the managing committee of Suhasini Vidyapeeth at Karaniytola village.
