BJP wants all-party meet on poll date

Amid the ongoing tussle between the government and the State Election Commission over holding of the panchayat elections,the BJP on Thursday suggested convening of an all-party meeting to break the deadlock.

Gross errors in reserved booths: CPM

A CPM delegation led by Robin Deb met Tapas Roy,secretary of the State Election Commission,and complained about “gross error in assigning the reserved booths for the OBC and minorities. Deb said: “ I have received information from the district administration of Hooghly that booth number 20 of Singur reserved for the minorities do not have minority population and same with booth number 9 in Khanakul. Roy said they will enquire into the matter.
