The Assocham has signed an MoU with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation for setting up a cluster of food and agro-industries in West Bengal. “We have signed an agreement with UNIDO for a food and agro-related cluster in two districts of West Bengal under a public-private partnership model,” said Assocham secretary general D S Rawat. He said the industry body has already asked Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to identify the two districts where the clusters could be set up. “UNIDO will offer the technology,methodology and financial assistance for setting up the clusters,” Rawat said. Assocham representatives will meet the state officials before UNIDO officialss visit to Bengal for appraisal of the progress on the project.
