The recent flood in the three districts of Malda,South Dinajpur and North Dinajpur have led to the death of four persons and crop loss worth Rs 1.5 crore. In all,about 25 lakh people have been affected by the flood. “We have set up eight relief camps in Malda,two in North Dinajpur and 15 in South Dinajpur,’’ Minister for Disaster Management Javed Khan said.

The goverment has so far allotted Rs 2.44 crore for relief and rehabilitation operations.

According to the state government’s estimates,1,760 houses have been fully damaged and another 5,004 houses partially damaged.
