First woman IPS officer of Rajasthan awarded Police Medal

The first woman IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre, Nina Singh, was awarded the prestigious Police Medal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.

At present, Nina Singh, is posted as Joint Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Working with the CBI, she played an important role in exposing Uttar Pradesh’s NRHM scam ad is currently in-charge of investigations in the Sheena Bora murder and the Chhota Rajan case. She is also in-charge of the Special Crime unit.

Singh has held various important posts in Rajasthan and is seen as an officer who is sensitive towards women. During her tenure as Member Secretary at the State Women’s Commission in Rajasthan, she undertook various remedial steps for the security of women. She prepared the administrative structure of the Commission, which is still functioning successfully. Mukta Arora, who was the coordinator of the commission along with her, said public hearings programmes were initiated by Singh, due to which aggrieved women are now provided with on-the-spot solutions.
