Telangana Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA A Revanth Reddy resigned from his post as working president and also from the party on Saturday. Revanth went to Vijayawada to meet TDP president and CM N Chandrababu Naidu to discuss his exit from the party unit in Telangana, but returned to Hyderabad without meeting Naidu. He handed over his resignation letter to the CM’s camp office. Revanth also resigned from his MLA post and hinted that he may join Congress and seek by-election.
In his resignation letter, Revanth Reddy accused TDP leaders of hobnobbing with TRS while he fought against it. He also complained of being sidelined in the party. Revanth is an accused in the cash-for-vote case in which Telangana ACB trapped him on June 3, 2015, while allegedly trying to bribe nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson to vote for the TDP nominee in the Legislative Council election.
Revanth won the election as an MLA in 2009 and 2014 from Kodangal constituency on TDP ticket.
