The Supreme Court Tuesday urged the Centre and Delhi government to sort out their “political differences” and work together to set up a Human Rights Commission (SHRC) in the capital. A bench led by Chief Justice T S Thakur reminded Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi that the directive for setting up the SHRC was given to the Centre, which it has to comply with.

“You look at the issue and find a solution or we will pass the order… We know that it has got political implications. Tell us if you have any problem, we can resolve it legally,” said the bench.

Rohatgi, however, said Delhi is a union territory and did not require an SHRC. The bench responded, “Do something for the suffering of the people for human rights violations…”
