A 29-year-old woman from Mewat was kidnapped and gangraped allegedly by three men who had been harassing her for the past month. The incident took place in Gurgaon’s Sakatpur village Saturday.

Police said the woman, who lives with her husband in Tauru village in Mewat, had come to visit her parents in Sakatpur when the men kidnapped her from her home around 11 pm Saturday. Her father, who is a night watchman, was not home at the time and her mother, who is ill, is admitted at a local hospital. The woman told police that the men allegedly took her to the Aravalli forest area near Badshahpur and raped her.

They let her leave the next morning after threatening her with “dire consequences”. The woman returned home and told her parents about the incident, who then approached police.

A medical examination of the woman confirmed rape, said police. “A case has been filed against the men under relevant sections of the IPC,” said Praveen Malick, Station House Officer of Badshahpur police station.

According to police, the woman identified the men as farmers who hail from her husband’s neighbourhood in Mewat. She claimed they had been harassing and eve-teasing her for the last month and she had come to her parents’ home to escape them.

“The issue had been resolved privately earlier and police was not involved. But this time, a case has been registered,” said Malick. Police said the three accused, who are absconding, will be nabbed soon.
