Woman falls to death from sixth floor of building

In the latest addition to a growing list of suicide cases in Gurgaon,a 27-year-old woman allegedly jumped to her death from the sixth floor of a building here on Monday.

In the latest addition to a growing list of suicide cases in Gurgaon,a 27-year-old woman allegedly jumped to her death from the sixth floor of a building here on Monday.

According to police,the woman,identified as Meenakshi,was a resident of Palican Apartments in Sector 1. She was married to a businessman who has a factory in Khandsa. The couple has two children — a six-year-old girl and a one-and-a-half-year-old boy.

Police said on Sunday night, her husband allegedly came home drunk and the couple had an argument over some issue. Meenakshi who was upset over the fight left home on Monday morning,police said.

According to police,Meenakshi went into another apartment building in the vicinity and jumped off the sixth floor of that building. Locals immediately informed police.

“We have not recovered any suicide note and we are interrogating Meenakshi’s family members to see what had led her to take her life. We have been told that she was upset over a fight with her husband,” said investigating officer Guddu Prakash.

Police have lodged a case of suicide and are investigating the matter.

Of late,the city has seen a spate in suicide cases. Over the last two months alone,police have registered at least 12 cases of suicide. Last Thursday,a 25-year-old woman working with a private bank had died after she allegedly jumped off the M G Road Metro station.
