A woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her apartment in South Delhi’s Munirka on Tuesday.

The woman, identified as Shivani (24),worked as an executive at a multinational company in Noida. She,reportedly, left a suicide note that said she was committing suicide over failed love life. “In the note, she also apologised to her parents for taking such a step. She stated that she loved someone who never reciprocated her feelings and that was why she was ending her life,” a senior police official said.

Shivani, who was from Haridwar, had shifted to Munirka four months ago and stayed alone.

The incident was reported when Shivani’s parents contacted a relative in Delhi after she stopped responding to their phone calls. Shivani earlier worked with the ground staff of an airline.

Though no foul play is suspected, police have ordered an inquest proceeding into the matter and are investigating all angles. The body was sent for postmortem to ascertain the cause of death. Shivani’s family in Haridwar has been informed about the incident, police said.
